Core Responsibilities

• Lead the USS Navigator’s science department and coordinate its personnel.
• Analyse sensor data, samples and phenomena encountered during missions.
• Advise Command on scientific risks, opportunities and research priorities.
• Coordinate investigations across astrophysics, xenobiology, planetary science and related disciplines.
• Work with Engineering, Medical and Operations when discoveries affect ship systems or crew safety.
• Oversee laboratories, probes, specialist equipment and scientific away-team activity.
• Ensure discoveries are documented accurately and handled in accordance with Starfleet scientific and ethical standards.

Role During Live Missions

During live missions, the Chief Science Officer interprets sensor data, identifies unusual phenomena and advises Command on the scientific implications of developing events. They coordinate investigations, propose tests and help the crew distinguish between genuine danger and the unknown. The role suits a player who enjoys discovery, analytical problem-solving and turning scientific clues into clear recommendations.
